The Beves group uses small molecule synthetic chemistry to build large (nanoscale) supramolecular systems, switches and devices. We are based in The School of Chemistry, at UNSW in sunny Sydney, Australia.
Our research interests cover much of supramolecular chemistry, spanning the traditional chemical fields of organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. We rely heavily on spectroscopy techniques, especially NMR, for understanding the structures and behaviours of the molecules we create. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (including via regular access to beamlines of the Australian Synchrotron), mass spectrometry and photophysical studies are also central to much of our work.
